The Power of Love
This past Tuesday was a long day. I was tired. At 7:30 pm, I was finally getting a chance to eat my lunch. Yep, you read that correctly, LUNCH. I was done for the day and worship practice was about to start. So, I heated up lunch and thought i’d hang out at practice, see my wife, and enjoy some worship music.
As I walked in, my wife informed me that she had a flat tire. She told me that Ryan heard the air going out of the tire. We walked outside together and sure enough you could hear the air rushing out of the tire.
You could say, my reaction could have been better. To be more accurate, it was downright bad. I was tired and just wanted to eat. I didn’t want to deal with changing a tire. Simply put, I was just angry and not proud of my response.
Then the most amazing thing happened. Some of the guys from the worship team came out to help. No matter how many times I told them I would do it while they practiced, they ignored me and insisted on helping. Before I knew it one of the guys had gone to his truck and was on his way back with his tools. Another guy was beginning to lower the spare from under the vehicle. They were like a NASCAR pit crew. While they were working, they shared joy and happiness.
They treated me to a first row seat in this demonstration of the power of love. These guys jumped in and helped because of their love for Julie and I (of course I know it's mostly Julie they love). They did more than help change a tire. My anger was completely gone and replaced with joy. They had taken away the power of the enemy and replaced it with God’s superpower, love.
I am grateful for these amazing men and the love they shared with us. I am thankful they know God and were willing to share Him with me.
“Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love” - 1 John 4:8
Be Blessed and Be a Blessing,
Matt
