Writing

Years ago, I started writing. It started as a way for me to engage with God’s word. Each day I would read the Bible app verse of the day and spend time journaling on that verse. Anything that came to mind was written in a notebook. Sometimes it was questions about the text. Other times the text would move me to reflect on a personal experience. It became a way that I get to intimately interact with Christ. The idea that others would read what I write is mind blowing to me.

Isn’t that the way our discipleship journey frequently happens? We put in the time and effort to grow closer to God. As we grow we better share His kingdom with those around us.

John 10:30 says, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” In other words this journey of faith means surrendering more of our humanness to allow the presence of the Holy Spirit of God to take over. As much as we’d like it to be an overnight transformation, it is a time taking process that requires intentionality on our part. Each of the apostles chose to follow Jesus and stay to learn from Him.  They had to be intentional in their actions. Christ calls us into this same type of relationship.

Jesus asks us to “Follow him. Learn from him. Be transformed by him.” More of Him. Less of us. Work on that and you’ll be amazed at how He uses you for His kingdom.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing,
Matt
