Simplicity

Lately, I have been drawn to the value of simplicity. Oftentimes I complicate things when a simple approach could accomplish the same thing. Some call it overthinking.

I, also think there is a beauty in simplicity. Our platform at the church demonstrates this beauty in simplicity. Just some lights on trees, candles, and boxes. They are placed in the perfect spots. It is simple and beautiful.

The same holds true for the gospel. There is something beautiful about its simplicity. The world is broken. It needs a savior. Jesus is that Savior. All who put their trust in Him will be saved. Nice and simple.

We have a way of complicating it. We say what about this or what about that? What should be simple we try to make into a complex concept. The truth is God's love for us is simply displayed first in the manger, then on the cross, and finally in the empty tomb.

1 John 1:7 ESV says “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” Walking in the light is simply choosing to follow Jesus. Fellowship with one another is simply being a part of a community of believers, a church. Being cleansed by the blood of Jesus simply means freedom.

This Christmas season. Keep it simple. God did.

Be blessed and be a blessing,
Matt
