Unity in Worship

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. - Colossians 3:16

There is something special about coming together in worship. As we sing songs, we demonstrate our unity. We each sing differently. Some of us play an instrument and sing. Some of us raise our hands in worship while others keep their arms by their side. Some lean on the chair in front of them. Others need that chair in front of them to keep them from dancing in the aisles. We all present ourselves differently before the same God.

1 Corinthians 12:12 describes the community of believers like a body. It says, “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” We are all diverse individuals, like the parts of a body. Like the individual parts we rely on each other and support each other. Alone, we don’t have much to offer. But together we are miraculous.

When I think of Colossians 3:16, the truth of the verse becomes vibrant when I consider our corporate worship. When we are together as one body we help each other experience the richness of Christ. Though we all serve differently and worship differently, we become a unified chorus in worship of the Almighty.

I hope you will be able to join us for our Night of Worship tomorrow. We will come together and be one body. Our songs of praise and prayers will demonstrate our unity as the Body of Christ.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing,
Matt
