Missions

Our Missions Ministry is committed to sending the Gospel of Christ to the whole world, one small light in a world filled with darkness. Westside Missions has always been focused on helping our foreign missionaries, as well as helping our Bible College and Lake Aurora as they prepare our youth for future service. Since Gary Johnson became our Senior Minister we have been able to give more to missions than ever before. Gary really has a heart for missions and he has helped the Missions Committee to continually increase our outreach.

In the past few years, we have made some changes in our emphasis on where we send our donations, making sure that we focus on helping young people through our support to Florida Christian College and Lake Aurora Christian Camp. Next in line has been our support of the New Mission Systems International, based in Ft. Myers, as well as the Florida New Church Planters organization. The amazing thing has been that in the past few years it seems like the more we give, the more God gives us, whereas in past years there were times when the missions bank account got so low, especially in the summertime, that we couldn’t fulfill our monthly commitments. Now we are able to help pay the tuition of any of our youth who want to go to camp at Lake Aurora, and we are able to help provide our two ministers’ travel expenses to the mission field.

Since the death of George Armour this year, the Mission Committee is comprised of Betty Dial and Inez Trautman, with input from Gary Johnson. Our Missions Ministry is funded by receipt of 12% of Westside’s weekly offerings.

Our current monthly donations go to the following:

Florida Christian College $300

Manatee Religious Svc. $100

Loving Hands Min. $100
